Neil Simon's "The Odd Couple" premiered on Broadway in 1965 at the Plymouth Theater
with Walter Matthau as Oscar Madison and Art Carney as Felix Unger.  After a successful
run, Simon adapted the play to film in 1968 with Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon.  The
box office sensation led to the popular television series starring Jack Klugman and Tony
Randall.

As with all shows in this 50th anniversary season of ICCT, "The Odd Couple" was chosen
by audiences of previous shows.  It was from the decade of the 60's, having been
produced during the 1968-69 season.  The play is set in New York City in 1965 but the
story is universal and timeless.  The show's popularity can be attributed to its humorous
look at the human condition and characters that we can all identify with.

Performed at Exhibition Hall on the Johnson County 4H Fairgrounds.  (
