A review from the Iowa City Theatre blog may be found here! A sudden accident to a coach and a gallant rescue brings to an inn a lovely Lady, her maid, a dashing Lord and his manservant. The stage is set for romance, something the Innkeeper and his Wife are eager to have happen so these guests will stay longer. Intrigue follows intrigue, but romance will not be denied, although the lovers tend to fall in love with all the wrong (or right) people. This delightful six-character musical was produced off Broadway in 1966. It received unanimous raves, and the critics called the authors, John Clifton and Ben Tarver, the most talented and creative musical writing team in years. |
