We’re finishing up our current season, and we have one final Membership Meeting coming up soon. ICCT will hold this Membership Meeting on Monday, May 20th, at 7:00 pm, at The Celebration Farm.

At this Meeting, the Nominating Committee will submit their proposed slate of Officers and At-Large Board Members for the 2013-14 Season, and all Members present will vote on the slate. We will have a final reading of the most recent, proposed changes to the By-Laws and vote upon these changes. Additionally, we will be presenting the slate of shows for our 2013-14 Season, as submitted by the Play & Director Selection Committee and approved by the Board. Any other items will be made available to the Membership before the Meeting, as well.

Because we will need a quorum present, in order to vote on these and other possible issues, we are asking that the Members RSVP to this event by email, at secretary@iowacitycommunitytheatre.com, or by phone, at 319-400-4703, no later than Friday, May 17th, to make sure a quorum will be in attendance.

Thank you, and we look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the Meeting!

It is not a play about Kings and Queens and Dukes and Duchesses, but rather a famous American theatre family in 1920′s New York. Loosely based on the famous Barrymore family John, Ethel, and Lionel, The Royal Family is a fun and entertaining evening with three generations of eccentric actors. Fanny the matriarch and her two successful children, Julie and Tony, are trying to negotiate their loves, lives, and careers. Fanny’s brother Herbert along with his wife Kitty are trying to stage a come back. Gwen, Julies daughter is negotiating the waters between marriage and career. And their manager/producer Oscar Wolf is trying to hold them all together for another new play. But with an unruly dynasty of actors theatrical mayhem ensues.

It also pulses with the door-slamming farcical sound and fury found in the liveliest of Kaufman’s collaborations. Fun and games at the Cavendish household include boxing lessons, furniture-toppling fencing matches, random piano playing and dodging the madding crowds that assemble outside once Tony Cavendish, modeled onJohn Barrymore, comes home from Hollywood, trailed by a process server with breach-of-promise papers.
